John Rogers, Dick Phelps, Paul Stanish, Steve Sangster, John Retchless and Ken Dunn met with representatives of the MSBA. The committee reps felt that the MSBA showed great interest in our schools and were forthcoming in their discussions. They seemed particularly interested in combining shared spaces between the Middle School and High School. The MSBA was represented by an Engineer and two consulting Architects. The new timeline for a decision is expected to be sometime in the fall.
John Rogers discussed with the committee the importance of now bringing information to the School Committee. Marilyn was asked to request September 24, 2007 as a date for a formal presentation from the Building Committee to the School Committee.
The Committee discussed the possibility of saving the front façade of the building. If a renovation or new project is approved this will be looked into.
SOS representative Mark Flaherty updated the committee on plans for a breakfast for seniors in the fall. It was suggested that the breakfast be held in the Middle School cafeteria. Mark also discussed plans to meet with the Labor Board of Plymouth County to discuss an offer to assist with the PR campaign that will be activated once Rockland is selected for funding.
The SOS expects that they will need to raise between 7 and 10,000 dollars for their campaign.
The meeting was adjourned at 6:30 p.m.
Minutes of the September 26, 2007 will be posted once voted on at the October Meeting.
